The correct way to eat figs

Just had a lift from an old Greek man, unshaven and with a dark brown weather beaten face in a clapped out pickup truck. He didn't speak a word of English but I explained where I wanted to go by showing him the map. He then produced a carrier bag of figs and indicated that I should eat one. When he saw that I was going to bite it he stopped the truck and showed me how to peel one. I then had to eat another five before I got out, all the time smiling and making appreciative noises. He then gave me a few more to take with me.
Do you think that five figs will have a devastating effect on my insides? I know that figs have a bit of a reputation in this department.

War museum

There's a war museum in the village where I am staying. The area on the map with the swastikas is the village and the beach in the photograph with the seaplane is where I was lying earlier today.

Windy

It's blowing a gale! There's so much dust swirling around that you have to shut your eyes. I went on the beach and there was.literally only me there. Of course if you've been on St Cyrus beach this is sheer bliss but the Greeks seem to regard it as unbearable. That's because they aren't as 'ard as us Brits.

The evening meal

Sat on the veranda listening to cicadas and eating feta with two of those manky looking tomatoes that are juicy and delicious.

War cemetery

This cemetery is very close to my accommodation, I felt quite sad seeing how young some of these soldiers were.

Mosquitoes

Yes the mosquito netting was required. I had to beat a retreat indoors as soon as it went dark. Could have done with some fly spray.
