Greek Mac

No I didn't try it, but the place looks much cleaner and better run than any in the UK.

Looted artefacts

Ive been looting artefacts. I've got an amphora handle, probably Byzantine from a cave underneath the Acropolis on Rhodes and some tessera from mosaics here on Kos.

The Roman Odeum

Constructed in 2nd century AD. Presumably the name is linked to the Odeon cinemas

Castle of Neratzia

Also known as Kos town castle, is a castle within a castle, constructed of masonry gathered from the ancient city. Observe the pillars used in the roof of the entrance tunnel which have been pinched from the Temple of Aphrodite.

The ancient town of Kos

Acres of ruins like this, crudely reconstructed in places but the majority of the stone has gone towards constructing the castle (see next entry).

Importuning beggar

There are a surprising number of beggar women. The set up is always the same, woman with child looking helpless. I don't know how successful they are because I've not seen anyone give them money.
